Presentation of the book by Dr. Konstantinos Diogos, “The Vision of the Greeks for the United States of America: From the Greek Revolution to the First World War”

With great success, the presentation of the book by Dr. Konstantinos Diogos, Associate Professor of Modern History at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH), titled The Vision of the Greeks for the United States of America: From the Greek Revolution to the First World War (Alexandria Publications, 2024), took place on Friday, December 19, 2025, at the “Alexandros Haitoglou” Auditorium of IMMA.

The book constitutes an original and substantial contribution to Greek historiography, as tracing the transformations of the image of the United States essentially becomes a fascinating journey through the history of Greece itself.

The book was presented by Professor Georgios Kalogeras, Emeritus Professor of American Ethnic and Minority Studies at the Department of English, AUTH; Professor Nikos Marantzidis, Professor of Political Science at the University of Macedonia; and Christos Aliprantis, Associate Professor of Political Science and International Relations at Anatolia American University, along with the author. The discussion was moderated by Vasilis Gounaris, Professor of Modern History at AUTH.

Greetings were delivered by Professor David Wisner, Director of the Michael and Kitty Dukakis Center for Public and Humanitarian Service—which also sponsored the event—as well as by the Director of IMMA, Ms. Athina Pavlidou.
