INTERNATIONAL MUSEUM DAY 2026!
The Activities of IMMA!

The Foundation of the Museum for the Macedonian Struggle and the Modern History of Macedonia (IMMA) in Thessaloniki is once again celebrating International Museum Day (May 18) with free admission and themed guided tours, interactive educational programs for children, and the opening of the Museum’s new temporary exhibition!

With the theme “Museums Uniting a Divided World,” the International Council of Museums (ICOM) highlights museums as spaces for dialogue, respect, and connection among people, cultures, and generations. This year’s celebration promotes understanding, inclusion, peaceful coexistence, international cooperation, and networking, in alignment with the UN Sustainable Development Goals for reducing inequalities, promoting peace, justice, and strong institutions, as well as partnerships for achieving these goals.

Within this framework, IMMA is participating in the celebration with the following activities:

Saturday, May 16, 2026 – 13:00

Guided tour of IMMA’s permanent collection
(Free admission – Simultaneous interpretation in Greek Sign Language available)

Sunday, May 17, 2026 – 18:00–21:00

IMMA participates in the co-organization of the Olympic Museum of Thessaloniki’s event for families, children, and young people, “MUSEUMS in ACTION – Culture 4 Family,” with the intercultural activity/game:
“Museums that Unite the World!”
(Outdoor area of the Maritime Museum, Pier A, Port of Thessaloniki)

Educational Program “Transformations of a City” at the Museum, with the participation of schools from Thessaloniki, as part of the new temporary exhibition

Opening of the new temporary exhibition entitled:
“Thessaloniki in the Late 19th – Early 20th Century: Social and Cultural Life”
(Multi-purpose Hall “Alexandros Chaitoglou,” Museum for the Macedonian Struggle)
