Presentation of IMMA Calendar 2024 in Athens | Cities of the Macedonian Struggle

The presentation of the Calendar of the Foundation of the Museum of the Macedonian Struggle and Modern History of Macedonia (IMMA) for 2024, entitled “Cities of the Macedonian Struggle”, was held with great success at the Hellenic Foundation for Culture (HFC) in Athens. The event, which took place on Wednesday 24 January, is part of the cooperation between the two Foundations and is a continuation of joint activities and various events in both Athens and Thessaloniki.

The President of the HFC, Mr. Nikos Koukis, welcomed IMMA to the HFC’s headquarters, stressing the importance of this creative synergy. Mrs. Athina Pavlidou, Philologist-Museologist, PhD in Museology of the University of the Aegean, Director of IMMA, after thanking the HFC for hosting and co-organizing the event, proceeded with a brief presentation of IMMA’s multidimensional work, focusing on its important publishing activity.  Then, Mrs. Stavroula Mavrogeni, Professor of the University of Macedonia, Director of the Centre for Research in Macedonian History and Documentation (KEMIT) of IMMA, referred to the long-term course of the annual IMMA Calendar, pointing out the various topics that have been presented during the 23 years of its publication. Dr. Konstantinos Papanikolaou, Historian and Scientific Associate of IMMA, spoke about the 2024 Calendar, analyzing the contribution and role of the cities-frontmen of the Macedonian Struggle and presenting the process and challenges of the publishing project. The presentation was moderated by Mr. Dimitris Lyvanios, Assistant Professor of Modern History at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.

The presentation of the Calendar was attended by the Member of Parliament of Kavala, Mrs. Angeliki Delikari, the Publisher and Vice President of the HFC, Mr. Andreas Sideris, the Honorary Ambassador and member of the Board of the HFC, Mr. Alexandros Mallias, the outgoing Deputy Mayor of Filothei-Psychiko, Ms. Eleni Zeppou-Harlaftis and Ms. Theodora Gota, Expert-Counsellor A’ of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The presentation of the IMMA Calendar for the year 2024 will also take place at its headquarters in Thessaloniki, in the “Alexandros Haitoglou” Hall of the Museum of Macedonian Struggle, on Tuesday 6 February 2024 at 18:30.

The publication of the Calendar was once again implemented with the kind sponsorship of the Food Industry “Haitoglou Bros. The Calendar is available from the shop and the e-shop of the Museum of Macedonian Struggle, as well as from the major bookstores of Athens and Thessaloniki.
