The Foundation for the Museum of the Macedonian Struggle and the Modern History of Macedonia (IMMA) officially received the archive of the Ambassador Emeritus Mr. Alexandros Mallias. The event was attended and addressed by the Deputy Minister of Interior, responsible for Macedonia-Thrace issues, Mr. Stavros Kalafatis, Minister of State of Greece. The event was coordinated by the Director of IMMA, Art Historian, Ms. Fani Tsatsaia.

The “Hair Archive” consists of a collection of newspapers of the Balkan countries of the last thirty years, translated into Greek, as well as critical announcements, letters from the leadership of Greece and the neighbouring countries and items from his personal diary. Also included is the complete UN archive on the dissolution of Yugoslavia from 1990-1993, with all the minutes of Security Council discussions, resolutions, etc.

The delivery of the “”Mallia Archive”” was linked to the tribute to the memory of the recently deceased distinguished historian and expert Balkanologist, Evangelos Kofos, a founding member of the Association of Friends of the MMA and of IMMA, a colleague and friend of Mr. Mallia, who had also donated his archive to the Centre for Research in Macedonian History and Documentation (KEMIT) of IMMA. Ambassador Mallias also referred to the coincidence of the two characteristic events and spoke at length about Kofos’ outstanding and long-standing contribution to the diplomacy of the Macedonian Question.
