“OPENING OF VISUAL ARTS EXHIBITION at IMMA ‘WOMEN, the power of creation'”
Events 4 April 2025
The Foundation Museum of the Macedonian Struggle and Modern History of Macedonia (IMMA) is honored to host the multidisciplinary art exhibition by five contemporary female artists, titled:
“WOMEN: The Power of Creation,”
and cordially invites you to the exhibition’s opening, which will take place on Friday, April 4, 2025, at 6:00 PM,
in the Alexandros Chaitoglou Hall at the Museum of the Macedonian Struggle.
The exhibition will be inaugurated by Ambassador Eleni Vakali, Head of the Greek Liaison Office in Pristina.
Women, as both symbol and image, have always occupied and continue to occupy a central place in art. Five contemporary women artists unite their creativity through personal and collective memory, reflecting their concerns about women’s experiences across the centuries, and highlighting the role of women in 21st-century society through their works.
A common thread in their work is the presentation of “memories,” carried by every woman through her personal story and family past.
As the exhibition curator, Ms. Stavroula Mavrogeni, notes:
“We are our memories. Through them and thanks to them, we perceive, move, think, feel, plan, and create. Our ability to remember influences the decisions we make and defines our personal identity.”
Their creations serve as a “vehicle” for understanding an era, a concept, or a new space. Stories and myths, themes of identity and origin, resonate with the senses within the framework of a “dialogue” with the viewers.
The diversity of expression and materials used is reflected in the works through the individual lens of the artists’ view of family life and the social role of women over time.
