IMMA and Lions Club Thessaloniki Hypatia

As part of the educational activities it develops and participates in, the Foundation of the Museum for the Macedonian Struggle and Modern History of Macedonia (IMMA) had the pleasure of collaborating during the 2024–2025 school year with the Lions Club Thessaloniki Hypatia and its President, educator and psychologist Ms. Stivi Siozopoulou.

The Lions Club Thessaloniki Hypatia is a local chapter of the international charitable organization Lions Clubs International, focusing on community service, the promotion of education, and the development of leadership skills.

The club takes part in various initiatives, including educational programs for children and cultural events that highlight Greek heritage.

1st Activity: IMMA at the 2nd Sustainable Smiles Festival!

Under the theme “Child, Nutrition, and the Environment,” IMMA participated with a creative workshop involving painting, collage, and… coded secret messages for environmental protection. The event took place at the 2nd Sustainable Smiles Festival, held on Sunday, May 4, in the courtyard of Thessaloniki City Hall. It was organized by the Lions Club Thessaloniki Hypatia, in collaboration with the Municipality of Thessaloniki and the Lions Club Psychiko Athens.

The aim of the festival was to raise children’s awareness on topics such as healthy eating, exercise and health, environmental protection, and vision care, through hands-on activities, games, and creative engagement!

Admission was free, and the turnout of families, educators, young people, and friends of all participating organizations exceeded all expectations!

2nd Activity: Hypatia at IMMA’s Summer Program!

The LIONS Club Thessaloniki Hypatia participated with an educational game on nutrition and physical activity, in collaboration with a member of the club “THEON o Alexandrev̱s,” nutritionist Mr. Aristidis Patrinos. The event took place during the summer creative workshops of IMMA for children aged 5–11, held in June 2025 at the Museum of the Macedonian Struggle and the courtyard of the 43rd Primary School of Thessaloniki.

The museum’s activity program, titled “Summer Adventures at IMMA,” was based on the themes of healthy eating and physical exercise. Through creative and interactive activities, children discovered the importance of a healthy lifestyle while playing, laughing, and learning!

We warmly thank the President of Hypatia, Ms. Stivi Siozopoulou, for the creative and beneficial collaboration for both children and families, and we continue with new activities promoting the physical and mental health of children and young people starting this September!
