Theatrical Group “Tafthismos” Visits IMMA!

On Wednesday, May 21, the theatrical group Tafthismos visited the Museum of the Macedonian Struggle. Tafthismos is the first amateur theatrical group composed mainly of minors and adults on the autism spectrum. It was founded by Paraskevi Salavgia, creator of the documentary “One World, Two Sides.”

Participants had the opportunity to experience the museum’s permanent exhibition in a theatrical and interactive way, guided by IMMA’s Head of Educational Programs, Katerina Tzavara, and historian-researcher Vangelis Kansizoglou, under the coordination of IMMA’s Director, Athina Pavlidou. Emphasizing specially designed exhibits and visual materials tailored to the group’s needs, Tafthismos members dramatized scenes from the everyday lives of the key figures of the Macedonian Struggle, enriching the historical narrative with their own experiential insights and knowledge.

The visit concluded with a short workshop held at IMMA’s temporary exhibition “Women: The Power of Creation,” where the participants amazed everyone with their drawing skills, keen observations, and insightful comments!

This mutual exchange of trust allowed us to share in the moving experience of a powerful moment of emotional empowerment for everyone at IMMA—a space of history and culture that is actively becoming a bridge of inclusion and cooperation, open to society and responsive to the need for education and recreation across all ages.
