Exhibition: “WOMEN, the power of creation” | Parallel Events Program
Museum for the Macedonian Struggle | April 4 – August 30, 2025
The Foundation of the Museum for the Macedonian Struggle and Modern History of Macedonia (IMMA), in the context of the art exhibition “WOMEN, the power of creation”, held in the “Alexandros Chaitoglou” hall of the Museum from April 4 to August 30, 2025, successfully organized a Parallel Events Program that drew significant interest and participation from the public.
The program featured artistic happenings, art-related talks and screenings, as well as workshops in jewelry making and collage. The activities included:
1. Talk by Maria Kombatsiaris – “On Art”
Saturday, May 3, 2025, 12:00–14:00
The renowned visual artist Maria Kombatsiaris captivated the audience with a talk about the role of art in modern society, her personal journey, and the power of creation. The audience actively participated in the discussion, with many attendees sharing emotional connections to her work.
2. Jewelry Workshop with “Laskarina” – Irini Arampatzidou
Wednesday, May 14, 2025, 18:00–20:00
Designer and founder of the “Laskarina” brand, Irini Arampatzidou, led participants through an experiential jewelry workshop inspired by the Museum’s collections and exhibits. Drawing from tradition and the participants’ own material memories, unique pieces were created, blending the old with the contemporary. Due to high public interest, a similar workshop will be repeated.
3. Talk & Workshop by Eleni Theofylaktou – “A Painting Dialogue through Collage”
Wednesday, May 28, 2025, 18:00–20:00
Visual artist Eleni Theofylaktou enthusiastically presented images and stages of her creative process and invited the audience into an original collage-making experience, inspired by her exhibited works. The event evolved into a creative expression workshop, where the participants played an essential role. The women who attended shared images, emotions, and stories, creating collages that reflected their personal narratives.
The Parallel Events Program was warmly embraced by audiences of all ages. These events not only highlighted the artistic value of the works and the collective memory of society, but also emphasized the positive impact of art in everyday life—expressing the feelings and experiences of both creators and participants. The high attendance, active engagement, and positive feedback confirm IMMA’s decision to continue and expand creative synergies that bring art closer to the people.
IMMA extends heartfelt thanks to the artists, participants, and all contributors for their essential role in the success of the program.
