The Board of Directors of the Foundation for the Museum of the Macedonian Struggle and the Modern History of Macedonia welcomes Ms Athina Pavlidou to the position of Director and wishes her a successful tenure.
Athina Pavlidou is a Museologist and Cultural Manager with international experience. She is a graduate of the Department of Philology of the Faculty of Philosophy of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, specializing in Classical Literature and holds an Inter-University Master’s degree in Museology-Cultural Management from the Polytechnic School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and the University of Western Macedonia.
She is also a PhD candidate in Museology at the Department of Cultural Technology and Communication of the University of the Aegean. She has worked in museums and cultural organizations in the United States (J. Paul Getty Museum), in Europe (Peggy Guggenheim Collection) and in Greece (Natural History Museum of the Petrified Forest of Lesvos, Aristotle Museum of Natural History of Thessaloniki, the House of Arts and Letters). In addition, he has collaborated with cultural societies and educational institutions (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, British Council, Centre for the Greek Language). Her main responsibilities included the design, management, promotion and evaluation of educational programmes, public programmes and various cultural activities and events.She was also involved in the education and training of museum educators, tour guides and volunteers. He was involved in the implementation of audience development, communication and cultural strategy projects.
Completing her work in the 2023 European Capital of Culture Elefsis as Head of Cultural Training and European Programmes, she returns to her home city, Thessaloniki, to take up the position of IMMA Director. Her primary objectives are audience development and engagement, inclusion, synergies and networking, digital transformation, sustainability and extroversion of the Foundation.
