Inside the Museum I Create!

With the general title “Inside the Museum I Create!” — with enthusiasm, imagination, and a spirit of exploration — we welcome autumn and transform the Museum into a colorful workshop of art, history, and creativity!

The interdisciplinary educational and entertainment workshops of IMMA are aimed at children aged 5–11 years old and will take place September 1–5, 2025, in the halls of the Museum of the Macedonian Struggle and the courtyard of the adjacent 43rd Primary School of Thessaloniki.

The theme of the activities includes original museum-educational programs where children:

• Engage with the exhibits, the Museum’s dioramas, and the materials used in the artworks of IMMA’s temporary exhibition: “WOMEN, the power of creation.” They experiment with textures and various techniques, creating their own original works.

• Become little researchers, forming working groups at the Research Center, where they explore the Museum’s digital archive and discover social, folkloric, and historical connections between the exhibition’s works and life in early 20th-century Macedonia — as well as their own daily lives!

Objects, heirlooms, and costumes come to life through the children’s oral and visual storytelling, as they create contemporary micro-stories and music-theatrical performances.

The final outcome of the activities takes the form of an artistic event, presented to parents and friends of the Museum on the last day of the workshops!

As every year, IMMA’s specialized collaborators will host special workshops (comics, digital activities, visual arts) as well as sports games!

Operating hours:
8:30–9:00 (arrival) – 14:30–15:00 (departure)

Participation cost:

• €65 per child / full week

• €60 per child (for siblings)

Payment will be made on the first day of the workshops or earlier electronically, if preferred.

The Museum offers children’s breakfast free of charge, sponsored by Koukakis Farm (yogurt, natural juice, cereal creams/bars).

For lunch, you may send a snack from home (e.g., a cold sandwich) that preferably does not require refrigeration or heating (the Museum is not equipped with kitchen facilities for meal preparation).

Detailed instructions, including the rules and program of the workshops, will be sent before the start of activities.

We remind you that, for the children’s safety and the smooth operation of the program, you must inform us in writing about any allergies or other health issues we need to consider before the children’s participation.
