Easter Experiential Workshops at the Museum of the Macedonian Struggle

Under the title “Easter stories and games in Macedonia”, the Museum of the Macedonian Struggle organized this year with great pleasure the established live workshops for children aged 5-12 years old in the Museum’s premises and in the courtyard of the 43rd Primary School of Thessaloniki. From Monday to Wednesday, the children who participated in the program had the opportunity to learn about the customs of the lilac and the history of Macedonia through multidisciplinary games, art workshops, theatrical activities and creative writing.
Utilizing the principles of museum education and the cultivation of 21st century skills, the young museum visitors learned about our folklore tradition through creative and critical observation, artistic production and digital applications. They wrote stories and poems, created posters and festive constructions, participated in the educational programme “I play and learn in the swamp of Giannitsa” and reproduced in an original way photographs, relics and well-known works of art with body, movement, imitation and painting!
The scientific supervision of the workshops was carried out by Mrs Stavroula Mavrougenis, Director of KEMIT IMMA and the coordination of the activities was carried out by the Director of IMMA, Mrs Fani Tsatsia. The workshops were designed and implemented by the educator – writer Katerina Tzavaras and the Museum staff, Eleni Mavridou and Silia Fassianou, as well as the student of the Practical Training of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Chrysoula Makaki and the actress Niki Christoforidou participated in the activities.
