On Saturday, January 17, 2026, at 11:15 a.m., the Panhellenic Theological Association “KAIROS – for the Advancement of Religious Education” of Central Macedonia and the program Actions of History, Memory, and Culture, with the support of the Foundation of the Museum of the Macedonian Struggle and the Modern History of Macedonia and the historical memory platform mnemonikon.gr, are organizing a dialogue workshop on the relationship between memory, theology, and education.
The event will be hosted at the Museum of the Macedonian Struggle (23 Proxenou Koromila St., Thessaloniki), in the context of the photography exhibition “Spaces of Memory, Places of Martyrdom” by Nikos Kosmidis. The exhibition is dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II. Part of the photographic material refers to Christian anti-Nazi resistance and to the ecumenical dimension of martyrdom.
The aim of the workshop is a simulation exercise for organizing educational visits to sites of dark historical memory. The photographer will present the material, analyze its theological implications, and refer to his experience from the participation of secondary education students in the educational action “Encounter with Memory in Place.”
Nikos Kosmidis is a PhD candidate in Architecture (Democritus University of Thrace), with research focusing on the aesthetic, theological, and political dimensions of the management of sites of memory. He is the coordinator of the interdisciplinary program Actions of History, Memory, and Culture, which aims to highlight historical, ecumenical, social, and spatial memory. For his contribution to the preservation of historical memory, he was awarded the medal “Meritorious for the Treblinka Museum” by the Treblinka Museum in Poland.
Greetings will be delivered by:

Petros Panagiotopoulos, President of the “KAIROS” Association, Professor at the Faculty of Theology, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki
