“Mother Earth, nature’s gifts in a spring celebration!” Easter Workshops for children at IMMA

From Holy Monday to Holy Wednesday 2025, the Foundation Museum of the Macedonian Struggle and Modern History of Macedonia is organizing its annual experiential workshops for Kindergarten and Elementary School children, featuring Easter activities and artistic projects!

The main theme of the activities is the Mother, in nature and in painting, during the spring season and the religious Holy Week. The Woman – Mother – Nature who creates, gives life, resists and endures, revolts, inspires and leads, nurtures, and blossoms.

Symbolism in art will be made accessible to children through an aesthetic approach to visual artworks and literary texts, where emotional engagement, personal experience, play with images, faces, colors, and words hold a central role!

As part of the workshops, children will explore drawing and painting techniques inspired by the styles of renowned painters and will develop skills in collaborative learning and creative entertainment. Digital games, theatrical readings in outdoor spaces around the Museum’s neighborhood, exploration of Easter customs in Macedonia, and creative crafting projects will enrich the program.

Additionally, the young Museum Friends participating in the workshops will have the opportunity to observe and engage in an experiential and original way with the artworks of five distinguished Greek female artists from the Museum’s temporary exhibition titled: “WOMEN, the Power of Creation.”

We will welcome Spring and Resurrection into our hearts with the traditional custom of Easter egg dyeing!

Dates: Holy Monday – Holy Wednesday
Hours: 9:00 – 14:00 (arrival between 8:30–9:00 and departure between 14:00–14:30)
Location: Museum of the Macedonian Struggle and outdoor activities around the Museum’s neighborhood
Participation Cost: €15 per day per child,
€40 per child for all 3 days (special rate for siblings and groups of friends)

Snacks and breakfast are offered by the Museum, including natural juice, Thessaloniki bagels, cheese pies/cakes/tsoureki (traditional sweet bread), and mini halva treats.
