Renewal of the Collaboration Between the Museum for the Macedonian Struggle and the Directorate of Secondary Education of Eastern Thessaloniki in the Initiative “School – A Channel of Art & Science”

The Museum for the Macedonian Struggle (MMS) renews its collaboration with the Directorate of Secondary Education of Eastern Thessaloniki, participating in the framework of the program “The School, A Channel of Art & Science” through educational and training activities. The program is carried out with the participation of students and educators of the Directorate of Secondary Education in the 399 approved School Activity Programs (Protocol No. 24922/14-11-2022), in cooperation with the Coordinators of Cultural Affairs, Environmental Education, and School Career Guidance (S.C.G.).

The objective of the program is the intellectual cultivation of students through their acquaintance and engagement with various forms of Art. Through its multifaceted educational and cultural activities, the Museum for the Macedonian Struggle serves as an important link of communication and interaction between the Museum and the School community, contributing through its educational programs for all school levels and its training work to the promotion and creative approach to the history of Macedonia.

Teachers and students participating in the School Activity Programs during the current academic year 2025–2026 have the opportunity to take part in the following interactive educational programs of the Museum for the Macedonian Struggle as recognition for their investigative work and voluntary educational engagement. The available participation slots for educational tours, programs, lectures, and workshops will be updated every quarter on the Museum’s official website.

For the 2025–2026 school year, and specifically during the months of June (5–15/6/2026), July, and August, participation opportunities are offered to school groups in the following educational programs:

• Educational guided tour of the temporary exhibition “Thessaloniki in the Late 19th – Early 20th Century: Social and Cultural Life” (up to 30 students), on Wednesdays (excluding public holidays), between 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
  Duration: 60 minutes.
• Interactive educational tour of the permanent collection and the Museum building (up to 25 students), on Wednesdays (excluding public holidays), between 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.
  Duration: 60 minutes.
• Educational program “The Architectural Heritage of E. Ziller in Thessaloniki” (up to 25 students), on Tuesdays (excluding public holidays), between 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.
  Duration: 60 minutes.

Within this framework, we are also renewing the collaboration with the staff of the Institute of the Museum for the Macedonian Struggle (IMMA) for their participation in Career/Professional Orientation Days, following prior coordination with the IMMA Educational Programs Coordinator (kemit.education@imma.edu.gr).

Requests for reservations in the educational programs are made exclusively by telephone through the Museum for the Macedonian Struggle (Secretariat phone: +30 2310 229778) and with the program coordinator, Ms. Aikaterini Tzavara (IMMA Educational Programs), between 11:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., Monday to Friday.

To complete a reservation, the following information is required: the school name, the name and telephone number of the responsible teacher, and the exact number of requested places.

Please note that a reservation is considered final only after confirmation by the IMMA Educational Programs Coordinator. Participation places will be allocated on a strict first-come, first-served basis.
