The presentation of the Calendar 2024 of the Foundation of the Museum of the Macedonian Struggle and Modern History of Macedonia (IMMA) entitled “Cities of the Macedonian Struggle” took place on Tuesday, February 6, in the crowded hall “Alexandros Haitoglou” of the Museum of the Macedonian Struggle.

The Deputy Mayor, Deputy Mayor of Culture, Tourism Development, International Relations and Intermunicipal Cooperation, Mr. Vasilis Gakis addressed the event. Greetings to the event were sent by the Member of Parliament of Thessaloniki, Mr. Konstantinos Gioulekas, the Member of Parliament of Thessaloniki, Mr. Dimitris Kouvelas and the Mayor of Kastoria, Mr. Giannis Korentsidis.

In their speeches, the Director of IMMA, Mrs. Athina Pavlidou and the Professor of the University of Macedonia – Director of the IMMA’s KEMIT, Mrs. Stavroula Mavrogeni, focused on the Foundation’s significant multi-year publishing activity, highlighting the various topics that have been presented during the 23 years of its publication. Dr. Konstantinos S. Papanikolaou, Historian and Scientific Associate of IMMA, spoke about the contribution and the role of the pioneer cities of the Macedonian Struggle, presenting the process and the challenges of the publishing project. The event was moderated by the Assistant Professor of Modern History of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Mr. Dimitris Lybanios.

The publication of the Calendar was again implemented this year with the kind sponsorship of the Food Industry “Haitoglou Brothers SA”, to which the Foundation warmly thanked by addressing a special greeting to the official guests of the event, Mrs. Lena Haitoglou and Mr. Nikolaos Haitoglou, Managing Director of the company and member of the Board of Directors of IMMA.

The presentation of the Calendar was attended by His Eminence Archimandrite Evsevios Nakopoulos, Representative of His All-Holiness Metropolitan Filotheos, the Coordinator of the Prime Minister’s Office in Thessaloniki, Mr. Giannis Papageorgiou, Mr. Nikolaos  Margaropoulos, President of the President of the Election Committee of the Vafopouleio Cultural Centre, Mrs. Mina Filippoulou, the President of the Association “The Friends of the Museum of the Macedonian Struggle”, Mr. Dimitrios Kostopoulos and the members of the Board of Directors of the Association, universities, executives of education and tourist institutions of the city, journalists and friends of IMMA.

The Calendar is available from the Museum of the Macedonian Struggle’s shop and e-shop, as well as from major bookstores in Athens and Thessaloniki.
