The Foundation for the Museum of the Macedonian Struggle and the Modern History of Macedonia (IMMA) presents the digital educational platform “Seeking the heritage of the 21st century in 19th century Macedonia”, on Wednesday, May 18, 2022 at 18.00, in the “Alexandros Haitoglou” hall of the Museum.

The event will be addressed by the Deputy Minister of Education and Religious Affairs Ms. Zetta M. Makri.

The project was implemented in collaboration with the Institute of Information and Communication Technologies (IPTIL) of the National Centre for Research and Technological Development (CERTH) and with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Sports, in the framework of the Call for Expression of Interest of the Ministry of Culture and Sports for funding and/or sponsoring actions of Museums, Galleries and Collections 2021.

The programme will be presented by Ms. Fani Tsatsia, Art Historian, Director of IMMA and Programme Coordinator and Ms. Stavroula Mavrougeni, Associate Professor of Art History, while the interdisciplinary team of EKETA will be represented by Ms. Georgia Georgiou, Archaeologist – Museologist – Research Assistant ITIL/ECCEA and Mr. Yannis Dimitriadis, Software Engineer – Research Assistant ITIL/ECCEA.

The aim of the programme is to narrate the evolution of the historical landscape and the historical identity of 19th century Macedonia through the collections of the Museum and private collectors. It attempts to bring the Museum’s educational programme to the digital online world and to offer the general public the opportunity to discover Ottoman Macedonia in the years of preparation and development of the Greek Revolution.

Also, in the context of the celebration of the 40 years of operation of the Museum of the Macedonian Struggle (1982-2022), the awarding of the two logos of Ms. Victoria Alexouli and Mr. Dimitrios Tsoukalas, who were distinguished in the logo competition, held in February and March 2022.
