OPEN CALL FOR PARTICIPATION IN A VISUAL ART EXHIBITION

The Women’s Literary Association (WLA) is co-organizing, together with the Foundation of the Museum of the Macedonian Struggle and the Modern History of Macedonia (IMMA), a visual art exhibition entitled “WOMAN & LIGHT”, with the theme “Women in children’s, young adult, and crossover literature.” Visual artists and image creators—cartoonists, illustrators, comic artists, and digital artists—are invited to participate with their works.

The creation of the exhibition aims to highlight the presence of women in literature for children and young people, as well as to explore the way in which imagery can function as a vehicle for values, role models, and positive messages promoting gender equality.
At a time when women’s rights continue to be challenged and gender-based violence remains a serious issue, literature and the visual arts constitute key means of promoting equality, respect, and social awareness.

The exhibition will be hosted in the “Alexandros Haitoglou” Hall for Temporary Exhibitions and Events at the Foundation of the Museum of the Macedonian Struggle and the Modern History of Macedonia (IMMA) in March 2026, on the occasion of the celebration of International Women’s Day.
