IMMA Successfully Participated in PARATHINOUPOLI 2026

With great joy and success, the Foundation of the Museum for the Macedonian Struggle and the Modern History of Macedonia (IMMA) once again participated this year in “PARATHINOUPOLI 2026”, the largest children’s festival in Northern Greece. The festival was organized for the 24th consecutive year by the Municipality of Kalamaria and the Deputy Mayor’s Office for Education, Lifelong Learning and Culture, at Aretsou Beach.

On Friday, 22 May 2026, at the “Art and Creativity Stations” corner, Katerina Tzavara, head of IMMA’s educational programmes and workshops, together with IMMA historian and researcher Vangelis Kansizoglou, delivered the cultural workshop on architecture and creative writing entitled “The Museum of Friendship”, offering children a joyful experience of creativity, collaboration and expression.

The young participants took on the role of architects and designed their own Museum of the Macedonian Struggle using different materials and methods. They also imaginatively depicted the neoclassical building, creating constructions and messages of friendship for other children, inspired by exhibits of their choice, highlighting the values of communication, acceptance and coexistence.

Dozens of families visited the workshop, where they were informed about the Museum’s educational activities and creative workshops on history, art and reading engagement for children, which take place every year at the Museum. Their response was particularly warm, while the works created during the workshop will be used in the Museum’s workshops, carrying the message of friendship and participation to its visitors.
