The IMMA at the Events for the Macedonian Struggle Remembrance Day 2025

The Macedonian Struggle Remembrance Day is a day dedicated to honoring the struggles and sacrifices of the Greeks for the liberation of Macedonia. It is celebrated every year on the first Sunday after October 13, the date of Pavlos Melas’ death in 1904.

The death of the emblematic Macedonian fighter profoundly influenced the course of the Macedonian Struggle, as it managed to inspire an entire nation with the ideals of sacred duty and selfless devotion to the homeland. His integrity, purity of thought, and distinguished family background turned his sacrifice into a timeless example of heroism and self-sacrifice, establishing him as a symbol of the Macedonian Struggle.

The Foundation of the Museum for the Macedonian Struggle and Modern History of Macedonia (IMMA) presents, through its permanent collection and interactive educational programs for children, the story of Pavlos Melas and other leading figures of the Macedonian Struggle.

IMMA participates in the events organized by the Region of Central Macedonia in Thessaloniki for the “Macedonian Struggle Remembrance Day”, offering free admission and guided tours to the public on Sunday, October 19, at the Museum of the Macedonian Struggle, during the following hours:

• 11:00–11:45

• 12:00–12:45 (guided tour with simultaneous interpretation in Greek Sign Language)

• 13:00–13:45
