In March 2026, a wheelchair was presented to the Foundation of the Museum for the Macedonian Struggle and the Modern History of Macedonia by former Rotary District Governor Vissarion N. Zachos, as part of the \u201cGive the Gift of Access 2.0\u201d programme. The initiative is implemented by the Rotary E-Club of Greece in cooperation with the Rotary Clubs of Agia Paraskevi, Anoixi Semeli, Kifissia Kastri, Patras \u201cKostis Palamas\u201d, Preveza, Chalandri, and Psychiko.<\/p>\n

The wheelchair was received by the President of IMMA, Nikolaos K. Margaropoulos, together with IMMA Director Athina Pavlidou and members of the Museum\u2019s staff. Mr Zachos was subsequently given a guided tour of the Foundation\u2019s permanent exhibition spaces by Dr Konstantinos Papanikolaou, historian and researcher at IMMA.<\/p>\n

The \u201cGive the Gift of Access 2.0\u201d programme aims to improve accessibility at museums and archaeological sites through the donation of wheelchairs, enabling visitors with mobility difficulties to explore these spaces safely and comfortably. The wheelchairs are new, heavy-duty models that meet safety specifications and can be used without assistance. The programme continues the \u201cGive the Gift of Access 1.0\u201d initiative, through which 20 wheelchairs were donated to 13 archaeological sites and museums.<\/p>\n

Equal access to and inclusion in culture are key priorities in IMMA\u2019s strategic planning.<\/p>\n
