COMMEMORATIVE EVENTS<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

120 years since the death of Pavlos Melas<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

On the occasion of the 120th anniversary of the death of Pavlos Melas, the Foundation for the Museum of the Macedonian Struggle and the Modern History of Macedonia (IMMA) is organizing a rich programme of activities and events that will take place during the period October-December 2024 and invites us to reflect and re-imagine the personality, contribution, and the historical and contemporary footprint of the emblematic Fighter of Macedonia.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The Commemorative Events are held under the auspices of the Ministry of Interior (Sector of Macedonia and Thrace).<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The opening of the IMMA’s anniversary events will take place on Saturday 12 October 2024 at 18:00<\/strong>, with the Central Commemoration Event, co-organized with the Thessaloniki Chamber of Commerce and Industry (TCCI), at the TCCI Hall of Events. Speakers: Konstantinos P. Gioulekas<\/strong>, Deputy Minister of the Interior, Sector for Macedonia and Thrace and Vasilis K. Gounaris<\/strong>, Professor of Modern History of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The overall programme of activities includes thematic guided tours at the Museum of the Macedonian Struggle, a Round Table discussion with the participation of university professors and historians at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, a theatrical event of dramatized narration in the exhibition halls of the neoclassical building of IMMA, a guided tour for the public on the Day of Remembrance of the Macedonian Struggle, as well as the presentation of the new educational programme “Pavlos Melas and his march in Macedonia” for school groups.<\/span><\/p>\n
