IMMA at the International Holocaust and Jewish Studies Partnership Network Workshop in Budapest

The Foundation of the Museum for the Macedonian Struggle and the Modern History of Macedonia (IMMA) participated in the international Holocaust and Jewish Studies Partnership Network workshop, held in Budapest from 15 to 18 June 2026, with the participation of leading researchers and academics from ten European countries. The meeting aimed to strengthen cooperation between research institutions and universities in the fields of Holocaust Studies and Jewish History, as well as to explore joint research initiatives focusing on histories of forced labour during the Nazi period and the early post-war years.

IMMA was represented by Dr Stavroula Mavrogeni, Professor at the University of Macedonia and Director of IMMA’s Centre for Research on Macedonian History and Documentation (KEMIT). She presented the research work developed in recent years in the fields of Macedonian history, memory, persecution and the experiences of the Jewish communities of Northern Greece.

During the workshop, participants exchanged research experiences, presented innovative methodological approaches and discussed the prospects for establishing transnational collaborations and funded research networks. Particular emphasis was placed on connecting historical research, digital documentation tools and cultural heritage, with the aim of highlighting less extensively studied aspects of the European history of the Second World War.

IMMA’s participation in this network confirms the Foundation’s active role within the international academic community and strengthens the prospects for developing new research partnerships with universities, research centres and memory institutions across Europe.
